The hubs and I spent a kid free weekend in San Diego last month. It’s always nice to get away from our crazy lives and crazy kids, even if just for the weekend!

If you are planning a trip to take after the world gets back to normal, consider visiting Pendry in downtown San Diego!

Pendry San Diego – as usual, an awkward pose from yours truly. Here’s the link to my sunnies!

THE HOTEL

Pendry San Diego is a 12-story boutique hotel located in downtown on the South edge of the historic Gaslamp Quarter. There are so many restaurants right at your fingertips, as well as a short walk to hip-happenin’ nightlife, Petco Park (Major League Baseball stadium that hosts events and concerts), and the San Diego Convention Center (where the world’s largest comic book convention, Comic-Con, is held).

Pendry’s awesome amenities also could make it easy to stay at the hotel for your entire trip ~ Spa Pendry, six restaurants and bars, a rooftop pool, fitness center, a champagne vending machine, and their own nightclub with a VIP entrance for hotel guests are among the amenities.

Pendry San Diego is in a lively area, so if you want a quieter night’s sleep, make sure to let your travel agent know when booking that you’d like a quieter location in the hotel.

What I first fell in love with at Pendry was the decor and the greenery. I can’t keep a plant alive, but I love restaurants and hotels/resorts that have plants galore.

Pendry charges a nightly resort/amenity fee of $35, which covers access to Oxford Social Club, access to the pool, 24 hour fitness center, morning coffee in Provisional, nightly turndown service with macaroon cookies, stroller rental, guitar rental, skateboard rental, Cadillac ride & drive services, WIFI, shoe shine service, and a welcome beverage upon check in.

The hotel is also dog-friendly – you can bring one dog free of charge!

The fitness center is spacious and they will have Peloton bikes soon so you can get your sweat on even more. The fitness center is right off of the rooftop pool and cabana area.

If you’d prefer to get in your daily exercise outside, a downtown running route map is available in the fitness center.

The cutest little shop with active wear, sunnies, spa products, and more is located in between the rooftop pool and fitness center.

They even have the cutest hallway with little reading nooks! Even if reading books isn’t your thing, go check out this hallway.

Spa Pendry offers body treatments, facials, massage, hair removal, and nail services. The spa area has a long row of chairs (with dividers every two chairs) for relaxing before or after your service.

I was happy to see fresh gluten free granola in the spa’s waiting area. If you’re like me, you’re always in the mood for a snack.

They also have a make your own tea bar.

A tea bar with local raw honey?! YES PLEASE!!!

THE ROOMS

Pendry San Diego has four different room categories with bay or downtown views. The Superior, Deluxe, and Premier Rooms are 350 sq ft with one king or two queen beds. The Grand Rooms are 350 sq ft with one king bed with bay views.

Pendry has six different suite layouts. The suites have views of the San Diego skyline and range from 548 sq ft to 1497 sq ft.

The 1082 sq ft Cabana Pool Suite is a fave because it has direct access to the pool with its own cabana. The suite has a wet bar, a card table, an extra half bath for your guests, and that amazing indoor-outdoor Cali vibe.

ROOFTOP POOL

You can choose a lounge chair or rent a private cabana (these are on the perimeter behind the white curtains) for your pool days. When you get hungry, The Pool House lounge is steps away. They serve starters, salads, burgers, and sandwiches. Their cocktail menu has so many options that it will stress out anyone who has trouble making decisions. The Pool House is open to the public for lunch.

The pool area has beautiful views of the bay and is normally open only to hotel guests. If you visit Spa Pendry you are able to use the pool area for the day. During the summer, The Pool House hosts Pool House Sundays where the public can reserve a cabana or daybed for the day.

FOOD

With six restaurants and bars to choose from, Pendry San Diego has it all! Fifth & Rose is the hotel bar near the reception area. The Pool House, mentioned previously, is the restaurant in the pool area.

Lionfish has a menu with seasonal, local ingredients serving modern coastal cuisine. From sushi to seafood to prime cuts and a beautiful two-story dining room.

Provisional is Pendry’s restaurant-marketplace with seasonal eats and gourmet takeaway options that’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dining area looks like something out of Joanna Gaines’ brain, which had me drooling. (as did the food)

If you’re in the mood for champers, Provisional has a champagne vending machine! You can purchase a special token from the front desk and get your own bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne.

My Baby Kale Salad was beautiful AND delish! The Roasted Carrots were a nice addition. (also pictured the Market Catch)

The hub’s fave was Nason’s Beer Hall, with heaps of local craft beers to choose from. After a tour of Petco Park, the MLB stadium which is only a few blocks away, we came back to Nason’s for Happy Hour. Nason’s has fresh popcorn available for guests and games like darts, corn hole, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, shuffleboard, and beer pong.

Oxford Social Club is Pendry’s underground nightclub. With comfy lounge chairs and tables made for dancing on, this club gets in some impressive DJ’s and artists. VIP treatment with special amenities and bottle service is available. If you are a hotel guest, there is a special entrance to the club for you.
