Traveling with children is fun…and exhausting! If you’re a parent, you know.

After getting the kids to bed, you NEED that chill time to recuperate, reset, and replenish your energy for the next day of fun! And it’s nice to enjoy the company of your spouse in the evening, just the two of you.

Staying in a one or two bedroom while traveling is something high on my list when I’m researching accommodation. A room with a door gives us a place to put the kids down and a separate area where my hubby & I can enjoy the rest of the evening, without having to sit quiet in a dark room all together.

While house rentals are an option, I tend to like those for 3 nights or longer stays. For shorter stays, I prefer a hotel so I don’t have to do all of the cleaning and picking up that comes along with a house/property rental at checkout.

We lived in Australia for 7 years and compared to the US, Australia is HEAPS better at offering accommodation options for families. It’s rare to find apartment-style hotels in the US, but super common in Australia!

Hopefully in years to come, America will start to build more apartment-style hotels, which will make traveling with kids so much more enjoyable.

I was over the moon excited when I came across BentoLiving Chestnut Hills in my research of Nashville accommodation. They offer studio units, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and 5 bedroom apartment-style units. Here is a link to a post I did on the BentoLiving property, but keep reading for a tour of our apartment!

The lobby/reception area is located on the first floor. The apartments/studios are on floors two through five. When you step off the elevator, there is a beautiful sitting area that you’ll see before you walk down the hallway to your room.

We stayed in unit #502, a 2 bedroom that was perfect for our family. It was so spacious!

In the hallway, my husband noticed a very faint bird chirping noise. We thought it may have been a neighbor with a bird, but later realized it was a recording that could only be heard in the hallway. When you stay at this property, see if you can hear the bird chirping noise!

I also have to point out how cool the room key cards are! The room keys are wooden and stamped with the property’s logo.

When you enter unit #502, you will notice straight away a “drop zone” where you can drop your shoes, keys, jackets, or other items. This area has a jump rope, which the kids LOVED, a yoga mat (which I loved!), and a reusable shopping bag. To the left of this area is a full sized washer and dryer in a closet, which we used….because kids.

The first room you come to has a queen bed and a storage area for your belongings. It has a view of the parking lot. The kids claimed this room! My daughter loved the robes and slippers.

The second bedroom looked very similar. It was a little larger in size, had a full size mirror, with a queen bed & storage area. The storage area has a safe. This room had a view of the cute cocktail lounge & food truck B1281.

The HUGE bathroom was positioned in between the two bedrooms. It had the normal bathroom things – a shower (no tub), two sinks, and a toilet. It was well-lit which was great for getting ready! Can I just say how much I love showers without shower curtains?! Oh, you too?!

The kitchen had everything we needed. We used the oven and stovetop, and there were plenty of cooking utensils, plates, cups, cutlery, etc. The fridge and freezer were so great to have for all of our fresh produce. There wasn’t a microwave, but we don’t use a microwave at home so it wasn’t missed.

The hubs enjoyed the French Press for his coffee, and I was stoked that there was a water filter pitcher in the fridge!

The kitchen, living room, and dining room are open and spacious. I can’t get over all the natural light in this place! You may be googly-eyed over all the windows as soon as you walk in the apartment. I was.

The kids took no time to make this place their temporary home. 🙂 The living room table makes for the perfect LEGO construction area.

The hubs and I used the dining room table as a workspace.

You can’t stay at this place without a trip up to The Chestnut – the rooftop area. Some nights they have live music and other nights they show movies! We went up to the rooftop each night we were there to watch the sunset and see the beautiful views of the Nashville skyline.

Our kids were happy the complex was right next to train tracks. They loved watching the trains go by! We weren’t ever bothered by the noise from the trains, even though the tracks were so close.

In the morning a local coffee shop, Frothy Monkey, provided a small sampling of muffins and bagels for the hotel guests. We weren’t sure which, if any were gluten-free or dairy-free, but they sure looked delish!

We had such a relaxing stay at BentoLiving Chestnut Hills in Nashville! We would definitely stay here again.
